Marta Filipa Pen Oliveira Freitas (born July 31, 1993 in Lisbon ) is a Portuguese athlete who competes in the middle-distance run .

Athletic career

In 2011 Pen qualified for the European Athletics Junior Championships in Tallinn and finished sixth there over 800 meters. In 2015 she competed at the U23 European Championships in Tallinn over 1500 meters, where she achieved a new personal best in the final and thus secured sixth place.

In 2016 she reached the final over 1500 meters at the 2016 European Championships and finished fifth there. She also started at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where she failed in the preliminary stages. In 2017, she improved her personal best in Greenville and qualified for the World Championships in London , but did not get past the lead here either. At the European Championships in Berlin in 2018 , she was sixth.

Pen is studying at Mississippi State University and won gold in the 1500 meters in Eugene at the 2016 American Student Championships .
