Marte Smistad (born March 13, 1992 in Trondheim , Norway ) is a Norwegian handball player who was part of the squad of the Norwegian national beach handball team.

Career

Indoor handball

Marte Smistad initially played for the Norwegian club Utleira IL, with whose women's team she ran up in the second highest division, the 1st divisjon. In 2011 the outside player moved to the Norwegian first division club Byåsen IL . With Byåsen, she continued to take part in European cup competitions. In 2011 and 2012 Smistad played a total of 11 international matches for the Norwegian junior national team, for which they scored 23 goals. For the 2013/14 season, Smistad moved to Flint Tønsberg, where she was in the squad until 2019.

Beach handball

Marte Smistad took part with the Norwegian national beach handball team in the 2014 Beach Handball World Cup, where she won the bronze medal. A year later, he won the silver medal at the European Beach Handball Championship . At the 2016 World Cup, she won the bronze medal again. In the same year she won the Norwegian beach handball championship with the beach handball team from Utleira IL. She won the title at the 2017 European Championship. Also in 2017, Smistad took part in the World Games . In the game for the bronze medal she failed because of the Spanish selection.

Smistad is now responsible for the beach handball sector at the Norwegian handball association (South Region).
