Martijn van Iterson (born July 11, 1970 in Leiden ) is a Dutch jazz guitarist .

Iterson studied from 1988 at the Hilversum Conservatory with Wim Overgaauw and graduated cum laude in 1993 . Since 1995 he has also been a lecturer there (now after the merger at the Amsterdam Conservatory ). He led various groups such as the jazz rock formations D-Code and Picks might fly (with whom he also made recordings), with whom he performed at the North Sea Jazz Festival and in the jazz radio program Tros Sesjun , as well as with the jazz Dance group All the King's Men , which won the Heineke Crossover Award in 1994. He then played with his own quartet and the jazz rock group Knoertz . He played with the big bands Skymasters , Concert Jazz Band and the Metropole Orchestra . In 1996 he recorded with guitarist Mike Stern . His first solo CD, It's Happening , was released in 1998 (with Toon Roos, among others ). He also played with Lee Konitz , Bud Shank , Piet Noordijk , Ferdinand Povel , John Engels , Toots Thielemans and Kurt Rosenwinkel, among others .

In 1990 he came second in the competition for the Wessel-Ilcken Young Talent Award. In 2004 he won the Bird Award at the North Sea Jazz Festival.
