Martin Luther Church (Caselwitz)
The Evangelical Lutheran Martin Luther Church is located in the Caselwitz district of the city of Greiz in the Greiz district in Thuringia . It belongs to the Evangelical Lutheran parish of Greiz -Caselwitz in the Greiz parish of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .
history
Nothing is known of the previous church, the chapel mentioned in 1534 . It burned down in 1723 and a church had to be built, which was consecrated on November 11 of the same year. It was Martin Luther's baptism day . That is why the church has had his name since 1954.
To the church itself
She stands in the middle of the cemetery . The roof turret on the west side of the church is striking . who has a tail dome. The outer stems distract from the linear interior design. The nave has a three-sided choir . The large windows give the house a great deal of light. The baroque pulpit altar is decorated with ornamental paintings. An angel in the form of a young man, a work of the early 18th century, holds the baptismal bowl .
The carved support pillar on the staircase leading to the organ upstairs represents a female figure. She is probably influenced by non-European motifs. The organ and supporting pillars probably come from the Rothental castle chapel .
