Martin Baumann (born June 5, 1961 ) is a former German handball player . The left winger won two German championships with SG Wallau / Massenheim .

Career

Baumann, who was also used as a left backcourt player , moved in 1980 from the youth of 1. FC Saarbrücken to Bundesliga club TSV Grün-Weiß Dankersen . In Saarbrücken he was already in the first team that played in the major league . He broke the femur in a car accident in October 1980 and was out for the rest of the season. He then came mainly just in the reserve team thanks Ersen used and changed in 1982 to the third division VfL Hameln , with whom he in the 1983 second Bundesliga and 1986 Bundesliga rise. After the direct relegation a year later, he joined the Bundesliga promoted SG Wallau / Massenheim. With the club, Baumann was twice German champion ( 1992 and 1993 ) as well as DHB Cup winner 1993 and IHF Cup winner 1992 . Two seconds were missing to win the European Cup in 1993 . In the final second leg against Badel Zagreb , guest player Iztok Puc met with a backcourt throw to 22:18 and thus prevented extra time. In between he switched to DJK Sportfreunde Budenheim for half a year.

Baumann played a number of youth and junior internationals for Germany.
