Martin Beck (* 1958 in Berlin - Hohenschönhausen ) is a German politician ( Alliance 90 / The Greens ).

Life

After graduating from the Lessing-Gymnasium in Weddingen , Beck became a graduate in administration and a clerk at the Federal Insurance Agency for Salaried Employees (BfA). He then studied political science in Berlin and Rome.

Professional and political activity

In addition to his professional activities, including as a project manager, consultant and coach in the social field and in youth welfare, Martin Beck was politically active and has been a member of the Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen party since 1993 . From 1995 to 2006 he was district councilor in Wedding and Mitte, where he was, among other things, parliamentary group chairman, chairman of the social and health committee and a member of the youth welfare committee and the main and economic committee.

In the election for the Berlin House of Representatives , he ran for constituency 4 in Mitte and received a mandate for Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen in the Berlin House of Representatives via the state list. There he was spokesman for social affairs with a focus on poverty, homelessness and social space orientation. He was also a spokesman for sports policy, particularly advocating the Berlin sports clubs, the preservation of sports areas and the consideration of ecological aspects in the organization of large events. In 2013 Martin Beck was elected chairman of the newly established committee for civic engagement. He resigned his parliamentary mandate in August 2014, as he was appointed chairman of the board by the Humanist Association of Germany, Landesverband Berlin-Brandenburg eV . For him moved Notker Schweikhardt by the House of Representatives.

In addition to his parliamentary activities, he was a member of the Presidium of the Berlin / Brandenburg State Association of the Humanist Association Germany, a member of the Board of Trustees of the State Center for Political Education and a deputy member of the Board of Trustees of the Lette Association.
