Martin Blackley (born April 9, 1976 - May 22, 2002 in Inverness ) was a British biathlete .
Martin Blackley was a member of the 45th Command of the Royal Marines . In 1996 he started biathlon. Right away he was second in the sprint and third in the individual at the junior championships. In the following year he switched to the adult division and won the title at the national championships in relay races with his unit in his first season. He also made his debut in the 1997 European Biathlon Cup . He held this international level, but without making the breakthrough in the biathlon world cup or taking part in international championships. For the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City , he was one of the candidates, but had to end his career in 2001 because of an injury. He died in a diving accident.
