Martin Calsow (born August 8, 1970 in Münnerstadt ) is a German writer and journalist .

life and work

Calsow grew up in Bad Iburg ( Teutoburg Forest ). His father was a police officer.

After studying sociology , he completed a traineeship in Bielefeld . This was followed by positions at the TV stations VOX and Sat.1 as a TV journalist. He then worked for the Munich television station Premiere , where he was film director until 2009.

His debut novel The Lilith Code was published in 2011. The thriller about a political and religious intrigue also dealt with the various interests of those in power in the Middle East and the question of whether and how the region could be pacified in the long term. The sequel, Die Lilith Verheißung , appeared in 2012. In 2013, the first detective novel with the Bad Wiesse investigator Max Quercher ( Quercher und die Thomasnacht ) was published. Five more volumes followed by October 2018. The novel Atlas - Alles auf Anfang , published in 2015, marks the start of another crime series that is set in the Teutoburg Forest . In September 2016, the second volume, Atlas, followed .

Martin Calsow works as a columnist for the local news agency Tegernsee Voice . From 2013 to 2018 he was a member of the Information and Culture jury for the Grimme Prize .

Martin Calsow lives with his wife on Tegernsee .
