Bruno Sedlaczek

Bruno Sedlaczek (born January 5, 1928 in Zabelkau , today part of the rural municipality of Krzyżanowice ) is a former German diplomat . He was the ambassador of the German Democratic Republic in Lebanon .

Life

Sedlaczek, son of a working-class family, attended high school and graduated from high school . In 1944/1945 he did military service in the Wehrmacht and was taken prisoner by the Soviets . In 1949 he attended the Antifa Central School . He then returned to Germany, joined the SED and was secretary of the FDJ district leadership in Haldensleben .

From 1951 he was a member of the diplomatic service of the GDR. He was initially an employee in the management department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the GDR (MfAA). Until 1961 he completed a distance learning course at the German Academy for Political Science and Law in Potsdam-Babelsberg , graduating with a degree in political science. From 1961 to 1964 he served as first secretary at the embassy of the GDR in Moscow and then studied from 1964 to 1966 at the diplomatic college of the Soviet Foreign Ministry in Moscow. From 1966 to 1969 he was acting head of the Third Non-European Department ( Near and Middle East ) at the MfAA. In 1969/1970 he was - as legation councilor - head of the GDR trade agency in Algiers and 1970/1971 counselor at the GDR embassy there. From 1971 to 1973 he worked as deputy head of the Third Non-European Department (Near and Middle East) in the MfAA. From 1973 to 1977 Sedlaczek was the GDR's ambassador in Beirut . Between 1977 and 1981 he worked as a sector manager in the International Relations Department at the Central Committee of the SED. From 1981 to 1986 he was again the GDR's ambassador in Beirut. In 1990 he worked in the North and West Africa department at the MfAA.

Sedlaczek now lives in Berlin and is a member of the Die Linke party .
