Nils Martin "The Knife" De Knijff (born October 2, 1972 in Gothenburg ) is a professional Swedish sports bettor and poker player .

Career

De Knijff is the son of a Dutchman and a Swede. When De Knijff was five years old, his family moved to Falkenberg . In 1992 De Knijff left Falkenberg and moved to Stockholm , where he still lives today.

At 15, he began playing poker, at first mostly the variant Five Card Draw , later he played mainly Omaha and Texas Hold'em . De Knijff set out in the poker world a name for himself in the main event of the World Series of Poker 2002 in Las Vegas with 13th place 60,000 US dollars won. His first appearance in the World Poker Tour Main Event , he finished 15th in the 2003 WPT Championship at the Bellagio Hotel and won around $ 25,000. The following year he won the same tournament and received a record price of more than $ 2.7 million. Less than a month later, he finished second in the 2004 WSOP in the $ 5000 No Limit Hold'em . At the end of September 2014, De Knijff finished second in the first Aria 50K at the Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas and received more than $ 400,000 in prize money.

In total, De Knijff has earned almost four million dollars with poker in live tournaments.
