Martin Fiala (born January 25, 1968 in Czechoslovakia ) is a former German ski racer and ski crosser .

biography

At the beginning of his sporting career, Martin Fiala, who grew up in the Giant Mountains , was part of the alpine school team of what was then Czechoslovakia . When he was 14, his parents fled to Germany with him. He moved with his family to Münsterland , where he still lives today with his partner. He has another residence in the Allgäu .

Fiala drove for the German Ski Association from 1988 until his exit from the Alpine Skiing World Cup in 1995, mainly downhill races and in combination. At the 1991 World Cup , he reached 14th place in the combination and 18th place in the downhill. Two years later he drove to 15th place in the combined and 20th place in the downhill at the 1993 World Championships .

Between 1998 and 2010 he was an active ski crosser in the SC Obermaiselstein ski club . On January 13, 2010, in L'Alpe d'Huez, he created the norm for the Vancouver Winter Olympics . There he finished 31st .

After participating in the Ski World Cup, Fiala was a research assistant at DSHS Cologne and the German Ski Association . There he was actively involved in the work of the DSV women's team. From 2003 to 2008 he was press spokesman and then vice-president of the Bavarian Ski Association / BSV. He was a co-founder of the internet company XNX GmbH, which was sold to the Norwegian Skiinfo Group in 2008.
