Martin Frank (writer)
Martin Frank (born September 26, 1950 in Bern ) is a Swiss writer .
Life
Martin Frank grew up in Bern and from 1956 in Zurich . Between 1969 and 1981 he mainly worked as a professional musician, programmer and translator. From 1970 he stayed several times for longer periods in India , where he learned Hindi , Urdu and Tamil . He has lived and worked in Zurich since 1982. He is married and has two children.
Frank has published numerous novels and short stories that focus on homosexual people. His first work, the Bern German love novel ter fögi isch e souhung, published in 1979, was a bestseller and was filmed in 1998 under the title F. est un salaud . The novel Arun's story , originally published in English, is set at Annamalai University in the southern Indian city of Chidambaram .
In 2001 he received the Book Prize of the City of Bern. He was a member of the Olten group .
