Martin Frank (* thirtieth March 1888 in Euerwang ; † 19th February 1963 in Eichstätt ) was a German clergyman , teacher and canon .

Life

Frank attended the one-class school in Euerwang, Germany, for the first four years. After attending grammar school, he studied theology in Eichstätt . Bishop Leo von Mergel ordained him on June 29, 1914 as a priest. Then he was sent to Ingolstadt as a pastor . In 1918 he became a chaplain in Hilpoltstein and in 1920 came to Ingolstadt as a catechist . In 1922 he received an appointment as a teacher, spiritual and religion teacher at Gnadenthal Abbey. There he worked at the teachers' seminar.

In 1940 he was appointed head of the department for schools and education in the episcopal ordinariate and he was elected a member of the Eichstätter cathedral chapter . There he tried to ensure religious education despite the school bans against clergy and the conscription to the front. When religious instruction was completely banned in schools, he had to put it on a new basis with pastoral care lessons. In 1942, in the middle of World War II, the Eichstätter cathedral parish was transferred to him. He carried out this task until 1948 he could devote himself completely to the management of the school department. He became the episcopal commissioner for the higher education institutions in the area of ​​the diocese and was in charge of the Catholic parents' associations. He was also the diocesan director of the Unio Apostolica and press officer for the ordinariate. He published the diocesan hymn and prayer book Praise of God on behalf of the bishop . On September 12, 1954, on the occasion of his forty-year jubilee as a priest, he was given honorary citizenship. After his death on February 19, 1963, he was buried on February 23 in the cloister garden of Eichstätter Dom.
