Martin Franzen

Martin Franzen (* 1961 in Karlsruhe ) is a German lawyer and professor at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich .

Life

Franzen began studying law , political science , history and economics at Heidelberg University in 1983 . In 1985 he moved to Berlin , where he passed his first state examination in law in 1988. After the subsequent legal clerkship and the second state examination in 1991, he worked as a research assistant for Dieter Heckelmann at the Free University of Berlin . There he obtained his doctorate in 1993. jur. The habilitation followed in 1999 . This was linked to the award of the venia legendi for the subjects civil law, labor law, European law and international private law.

From the winter semester 1999/2000 on, Franzen held his first full professorship. At the University of Konstanz he held the chair for civil law and labor law. In 2004 he moved to the University of Munich to take the chair for German, European, international labor law and civil law, which he has held since then. Between 2015 and 2017 he was Dean of the Law Faculty of the University of Munich, and has been Vice Dean since then .
