Martin Göß (born May 9, 1936 in Gallmersgarten ; † November 24, 2018 there ) was a German trombonist and music professor.

Life

Martin Göß studied trombone with Walter Daum at the Bavarian State Conservatory of Music in Würzburg. Afterwards he was a solo trombonist, among other things, a member of the Hanover State Opera and the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra .

From 1983 to 2001 he was professor for trombone at the University of Music in Würzburg . After his retirement he continued to work as a lecturer for orchestral studies in the trombone subject. Many of his former students are active in renowned German orchestras.

The International Posaunenvereinigung he was a member since its founding in 1988th In 2010 he was made an honorary member. For many years he was a member of the festival orchestra of the Bayreuth Richard Wagner Festival , where he worked as a solo trombonist and as a bass trumpeter.

His grave is in the cemetery in Steinach an der Ens . Brother Hermann Göß was a long-time member of the Munich Philharmonic and its brass group " Blechschaden ". Daughter Gina Göß is an editor at WDR.
