Martin Gessmann (* 1962) is a German philosopher . Since 2011 he has been teaching as a professor for cultural and technological theories and aesthetics at the Hochschule für Gestaltung in Offenbach am Main .

Life

Gessmann studied philosophy, German and Romance languages ​​at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen , followed by studies abroad in Nantes and Washington and his doctorate from 1989 to 1992. Gessmann was a research associate at the Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg (1993-1995) and on from the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg (1996–1997), where he also worked as a television journalist for SWR, WDR and ZDF between 1993 and 1996. He has also been a member of the jury for the Raymond Aron Translation Prize and editor of the Philosophical Dictionary since 2007 .

Work areas

Gessmann's research areas include modern theory , the connection between phenomenology / hermeneutics and neurosciences, as well as film theory , cultural theory and the theory of technology .
