Martin Kalischnig (born June 8, 1986 in Rum ) is a former Austrian handball player .

Career

Born in Tyrol, he has been active in the Handball League Austria for various clubs for several years . With HIT Innsbruck he was able to gain international experience in the seasons 2008/09 and 2009/10 in the EHF Challenge Cup and 2012/13 in the EHF Cup . Nationally, with the Tyroleans in 2012, the vice national champion was the greatest success he could achieve. However, he did not take part in the finals due to a cheekbone fracture which he suffered in the semifinals against Krems. With the 2013/14 season, the goalkeeper signed a two-year contract with league rivals Alpla HC Hard until the end of 2015. With the Harders he was able to secure his first title in the first season, they defeated the handball club Fivers Margareten both in the final of the ÖHB Cup and in the final game of the HLA and won the double. After only one year in Vorarlberg , the 1.87 meter tall goalkeeper moved back to his home club early on to support them in the Handball Bundesliga Austria . After Golub Doknić suffered a torn muscle fiber in his forearm in September 2015 , which meant that he was out for a longer period, Kalischnig was contracted again by the Vorarlberg team. After the 2015/16 season , he finally ended his career.
