Martin Smolinski

Martin Smolinski (born December 6, 1984 in Munich ) is a German speedway driver . His greatest single success was winning the German championship in Stralsund in 2007 and in Landshut in 2009 . He currently drives in the Speedway Bundesliga for AC Landshut, in the Polish league for Unibax Toruń and in the Swedish league for Hammarby IF . In 2010 he drove for the Coventry Bees and since 2012 for the Birmingham Brummies in the British professional league. Martin Smolinski was the first German speedway driver to qualify for the 2014 World Speedway Grand Prix and won the opening race in New Zealand. With his partner Kevin Wölbert, he won the Speedway European Championship final for couples in Herxheim in 2013. He is the reigning German speedway champion in 2018 and also won this title in 2015 and 2016. In 2018 he spectacularly won the World Long Course Championship.
