Martin Spitzer (born March 28, 1979 in Vienna ) is an Austrian lawyer and university professor . Spitzer is professor for civil law and civil procedural law at the Institute for civil and civil procedural law at the Vienna University of Economics and Business .

Martin Spitzer graduated from the Law studies at the Law Faculty of the University of Vienna from October 1997 to July 2001, reaching there first the graduation ceremony for Master of Law (Master of Laws.). Following this, he began doctoral studies in law, which he in December 2003 with the promotion to Doctor of Law graduated (doctorate.). Professional background

During his doctoral studies, Martin Spitzer initially worked as a university assistant at the Institute for Civil Law at the University of Vienna from 2001 to 2009 . At the same time, he was also a trainee lawyer at the Viennese law firm Sattler and Schanda in 2001 and 2004. In 2009 he was appointed tenure-track professor at the Institute for Civil Law, and in 2011 he was associated as Professor for Civil Law at the same institute.

From November 2011 to February 2013, Spitzer worked for the first time at the Vienna University of Economics and Business, after receiving a visiting professorship for civil and civil procedural law.
