Stefan Perner

Stefan Perner (born August 12, 1980 in Vienna ) is an Austrian lawyer and university professor . Perner is Professor of Civil Law and Corporate Law at the Institute for Civil and Civil Procedure Law at the Vienna University of Economics and Business .

education

Stefan Perner completed his law studies at the Law Faculty of the University of Vienna from October 1999 to May 2002, where he initially graduated as a Master of Law (Mag. Iur.). Following this, he began doctoral studies in law, which he in January 2004 with the promotion to Doctor of Law graduated (doctorate.). The title of his dissertation was “Community demands . An analysis of the majority of creditors ejected in § 890 sentence 2 ABGB ”.

Professional background

During his doctoral studies, Stefan Perner initially worked as a university assistant at the Institute for Civil Law at the University of Vienna from 2002 to 2009 . In October 2009 he was appointed tenure-track professor at the Institute for Civil Law, and in 2011 he was associated as Professor for Civil Law at the same institute.

After research stays in Hamburg at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law in 2008 and the University of Cambridge in 2011, he finally completed his habilitation in January 2012 in the subjects of civil law, European law and insurance contract law with the thesis “ Grundfreheiten , Grundrechte -Charter and Private Law ”at the University of Vienna. For this he received the Cardinal Innitzer Promotion Prize for Law and Political Science .

In April 2013, Stefan Perner accepted an appointment as a university professor for private law at the Institute for Law at the University of Klagenfurt , where he is still a member of the university council. In August 2015 Perner then moved to the Institute for Civil Law at the University of Linz , where he headed the department for financial market law .

In September 2018 he was finally appointed university professor for civil and corporate law at the Institute for civil and civil procedural law at the Vienna University of Economics and Business. The textbook on civil law, which Perner is jointly responsible for as co-editor and co-author with Martin Spitzer and Georg Kodek and has been published since 2007, is particularly well-known .
