Martin Stumpf

Martin Stumpf (born November 7, 1886 in Berlin ; † May 7, 1974 ) was a German politician (NSDAP).

After attending primary school and the Friedrichs-Gymnasium in Berlin, Stumpf studied surveying at the universities of Berlin and Bonn . After the state examination, he worked as an employee at private companies at home and abroad ( Turkey ) and in the hydraulic engineering administration until the outbreak of the First World War .

At first, Stumpf took part in the World War with the Field Artillery Regiment 24 . From 1916 to 1917 he was used as an instruction officer in Turkey. He experienced the end of the war as a battery commander with the Field Artillery Regiment 51 on the Western Front . During the war, Stumpf was awarded both classes of the Iron Cross , the Turkish Iron Crescent and the Wound Badge .

During the civil war-like first months after the war, Stumpf belonged to the Reinhardt Regiment in Berlin. In March 1920 he took part in the Kapp Putsch . He earned his living as a freelance surveyor in Berlin in 1919/20. He then worked until 1925 as settlement director at the Sagan district settlement company. Then he settled down again as a surveyor in Sorau .

In January 1923, Stumpf joined the National Socialist German Workers' Party (NSDAP). In 1928 he was local group leader of the NSDAP in Sorau and in 1929 district leader of the NSDAP in Sorau-Forst. From 1930 to 1933 Stumpf was a member of the city council in Sorau.

From March 1933 to May 1938 Stumpf sat as a member of the NSDAP in the German Reichstag, in which he selected constituency 5 (Frankfurt an der Oder; March 1933 to November 1933 and March 1936 to April 1938) and 4 (Potsdam I; November 1933 to March 1936) represented. While he was a member of parliament, Stumpf voted for the Enabling Act introduced by the Hitler government in March 1933 , which formed the legal basis for the establishment of the Nazi dictatorship.

From March 1933 to July 1934, Stumpf served as acting mayor of Sorau and district leader of the Sorau district. He later became a district inspector in the district of Kurmark before he was appointed district administrator of the Sorau district.
