Martin Wahl (pharmacologist)

Martin Anton Wahl (born January 12, 1956 in Stuttgart ; † December 7, 2018 ) was a German pharmacist and pharmacologist .

Life

Martin Wahl studied pharmacy at the University of Tübingen. In 1981 he received his license to practice medicine. In 1983 he received his doctorate in Tübingen under Hermann Ammon with the dissertation Investigations on the influence of thiols and thiol oxidants on the 86 rubidium efflux of Langerhans islets in the rat as a Doctor rerum naturalium . After postdoctoral research as a Research Fellow at the Rolf-Luft Center for Diabetes Research at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm with Per-Olof Berggren and Adnan S. Efendic, he became senior assistant in pharmacology at the University of Tübingen in 1995 and completed his habilitation in pharmacology and toxicology . In 1998 he became an Academic Councilor at the Institute for Pharmaceutical Technology and Biopharmacy and took over the management of the Biopharmacy Working Group. In 2001 he was appointed as an unscheduled university professor at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen .

In addition to supercritical fluids, the main research area was the active absorption of active ingredients into the cells as well as pharmacokinetic and biopharmaceutical issues. Wahl was the initiator of the Master’s course in Pharmaceutical Sciences and Technologies . He was a member of the German Society for Pharmacology, Working Group Pharmaceutical Process Engineering, German Pharmaceutical Society, German Diabetes Society and the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists.

Wahl had been a member of the Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem since 1998 .
