Martin Winkler (singer)

Martin Winkler (* 1968 in Bregenz ) is an Austrian opera singer ( bass baritone ).

Career

Martin Winkler studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna with Walter Berry. Fixed engagements led Winkler to the Mecklenburg State Theater in Schwerin , to the Komische Oper Berlin and, since 2009, to the Volksoper Vienna . In 2011 he was the Klingsor in Parsifal in Tallinn , which he later played at the Stuttgart State Opera .

In 2013, Winkler was the Alberich in the Bayreuther Ring (director: Frank Castorf ). In 2017 he performed the role in Tatjana Gürbaca's three-part version of the Ring in the Theater an der Wien .

The conductors under whom Winkler sang include Sylvain Cambreling , Wladimir Fedossejew , Jonathan Nott , Kirill Petrenko , Markus Stenz and Constantin Trinks .

He has worked with directors such as Frank Castorf, Philipp Himmelmann , Ioan Holender , Barrie Kosky , Christof Loy , David Pountney and Keith Warner .
