Martina Malyar (born June 20, 1959 in Vienna ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ). From 1995 to 2003 Malyar was a member of the state parliament and a member of the Vienna City Council and from 2003 to 2018 she was the head of the 9th district of Alsergrund .

education and profession

Malyar passed the teaching examination for secondary schools and subsequently worked from 1982 to 1983 at the integrated comprehensive school Wendstattgasse, Favoriten . She then taught at the Polytechnic Course in Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus between 1983 and 1988 and also worked as a freelancer in the Ministry of Education between 1987 and 1988. From 1988 to 1989 she was assigned to the BMUKS department for secondary schools and polytechnic courses as a curriculum author and for teacher training, seminars, further training concepts and various specialist publications, before switching again to the polytechnic course in Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus between 1989 and 1993.

The married mother of two daughters was on maternity leave between 1993 and 1995, and between 1990 and 1994 she was a member of the expert committee for HS and PL textbooks. Furthermore, she was chairman of the expert commission from 1994 and 1995 and after her parental leave worked from 1996 to 1998 as managing director of SOZIAL GLOBAL. In 2004 she graduated as a qualified teacher for secondary schools.

politics

Malyar joined the SPÖ in 1975 and was active in the younger generation (JG) between 1977 and 1984 . Between 1981 and 1984 Malyar was involved in the Alsergrund women's committee, and from 1982 to 1984 she was the district chairwoman of JG Alsergrund. Malyar was elected to the Alsergrund district council in 1984 and held the function of district councilor until 1995. In addition, she was club chairman of the social democratic group between 1991 and 1995. On January 27, 1995 Malyar moved up as a member of the Viennese state parliament and local council, and in 1997 she was elected deputy district party chairman of the SPÖ-Alsergrund. Malyar resigned from the state parliament and local council on June 25, 2003 and on the same day took over the office of district head of Alsergrund.

On June 25, 2018, she resigned from her position as district head in Vienna-Alsergrund . Saya Ahmad succeeded her in this role on June 27, 2018 .
