Martine Faure

Martine Faure (born September 30, 1948 in Langon , Gironde department ) is a French politician . She has been a member of the National Assembly since 2007 .

Faure worked as a teacher from 1970 and joined the Parti socialiste (PS) in 1979 . For this she succeeded in entering the municipal council of Aillas . After her rise to the rank of second mayor at the municipal level, she was elected to the Gironde Department's General Council in 1998 and was subsequently elected its vice-president. This was followed by a successful candidacy in the 2007 parliamentary elections , in which she entered the National Assembly via the ninth constituency of Gironde. While she was succeeded in the following elections in 2012 by her fellow party member Gilles Savary as a member of the constituency, she ran instead in the twelfth constituency of the department and was re-elected.
