Marvin Martin (born January 10, 1988 in Paris ) is a French football player who has been under contract with FC Chambly since 2019 .

Career

society

Martin was born in Paris and began his career at the age of six with the traditional association CA Paris . After two years he moved to Montrouge CF , a club in the southern Parisian suburbs. With the U-13 team, he won the Coupe de Paris in 1997 . After strong performances in the various junior teams, he was signed by FC Sochaux in 2002 for his youth department. There he won the Coupe Gambardella , the French club cup for youth teams , in 2007 with the U-19 selection . In the 2007/08 season he was used in 32 games for the amateur team of Sochaux in the Championnat de France Amateur , in which he was able to score three goals. After the season he signed his first professional contract, which initially lasted three years.

On August 30, 2008 (4th matchday), Martin made his debut in a 4-1 win over Olympique Marseille in Ligue 1 . He came to regular appearances in the following years and scored his first league goal on May 13, 2009 (35th matchday) in a 3-0 win over AS Monaco . After 27 league appearances in his first season in 2008/09 and another 36 in the 2009/10 season , he was finally a fixture in the team in the 2010/11 season after playmaker Stéphane Dalmat had left the club. This season, Martin was the league's best assist provider and was nominated for the UNFP Young Player of the Year Award .

For the 2012/13 season Martin moved for a transfer fee of around 10 million euros to league competitor OSC Lille , with whom he signed a five-year contract. In 2012/13 Martin also made his first appearances in the UEFA Champions League . In addition to the two playoff games against FC Copenhagen , he was also used in five group stage games against FC Bayern Munich , BATE Baryssau and FC Valencia .

In 2017, the midfielder joined the second division Stade Reims .

National team

Martin was used on November 19, 2008 in the game against Denmark for the first time in the French U-21 national team . Also in the qualification for the U-21 European Championship 2011 he came to some missions, but the qualification for the finals did not succeed.

On June 6, 2011, Martin made his debut in the French senior team . In the game against Ukraine , coach Laurent Blanc replaced him when the score was 1: 1 in the 76th minute. Martin almost single-handedly decided the game in the closing stages with two goals and one assist within just four minutes and led the French to a 4-1 victory. Martin was in the squad for the European Championship 2012 and was used there in the two group matches against England and host Ukraine .
