Mary Beth Hughes (actually Mary Elizabeth Hughes ; born November 13, 1919 in Alton , Illinois , † August 27, 1995 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American actress .
Life
Mary Beth Hughes started her acting career while she was in high school in Washington . It caught the attention of a theater owner. For him she played in classics such as Alice in Wonderland and A Midsummer Night's Dream . In 1937, she graduated from high school and returned to the theater stage.
Hughes moved to Los Angeles with her mother in 1938 to get into the film business. After some time she got a contract with MGM and in 1940 she moved to 20th Century Fox . Until 1951 she appeared in many B-films as a leading actress or received supporting roles in larger productions. From 1949 she also began working as a singer in night clubs. In addition to singing, she increasingly turned to the medium of television. From 1953 to 1955 she was for the station KTLA in Los Angeles "weather girl" She was until 1961, in addition to some trips to the big screen as a guest star in the Abbott and Costello Show and in the police report , Dr. See Bill Baxter, Doctor in Arizona , Rin Tin Tin , The Bounty Hunter , The Second Man, and A Thousand Miles of Dust .

She held this position until 1991.
Hughes was married five times in total. She had a son, Donald, with actor Ted North. Hughes died of natural causes on August 27, 1995 in Los Angeles.
