The lonely boy Rick Martin develops into a gifted musician with the help of the blues musician Art Hazzard. After disputes with his band leader Jack Chandler, further professional and artistic success quickly sets in with the help of the young Jo Jordan, but not without private tensions with her friend Amy North.
