action
Kalff is a player who has been pulled off mightily by an old eccentric. Now the young man is completely destitute. Thereupon the old man makes a nebulous offer to the bankrupt: he wants to give Kalff a considerable sum of money if the latter refrains from his intended suicide for at least a year. Kalff accepts the offer.
After a year things look completely different. In the meantime Kalff has fallen in love with a certain Rita. The young woman explains the background of the story to her boyfriend: the old eccentric had hatched a perfidious plan because he knew that Kalff was the man who once shot the old son in self-defense. But his plan does not work and the old man is fatally injured when he is arrested. Kalff and Rita become a couple.

criticism
In Paimann's film lists it can be read: “The active mail of the picture undoubtedly represents the very pretty presentation. The photos, almost all of them night shots, are, even if intentionally, often too dark. Except for a few lengths, the subject is passable, the depiction is somewhat weak in scenes. "
