Erwin Linder (born October 29, 1903 in Weinheim , † March 21, 1968 in Westerland / Sylt ) was a German actor , radio play and voice actor .

Life

Erwin Linder was born in Weinheim an der Bergstrasse . After finishing school, he learned banking, especially at his father's request, and soon turned to acting. He received his first engagement at the Nationaltheater Mannheim . In 1940 he went to Hamburg to the Deutsches Schauspielhaus . The city became his adopted home. After the end of the war he went to the Hamburger Kammerspiele and appeared frequently as a guest with Willy Maertens in the Thalia Theater until 1965 . His last role there was that of the bishop in the play Marriage by George Bernard Shaw . The teacher in Max Frisch's Andorra was one of his star roles .

After he got his first film role in the feature film Hans im Glück in 1936 , it was not until 1945 that his next media appearance took him when he appeared in the radio play Der Hauptmann von Köpenick . In the following years he had mostly smaller appearances in film and funk. The dubbing of foreign language films was added to the work on radio plays. The actors he voiced included Humphrey Bogart and Kirk Douglas .

Over the years he was seen and heard more often in larger supporting and leading roles on TV. His best-known radio play successes include the main role in Gestatten, my name is Cox - Murder on luggage receipt 3311 by Rolf and Alexandra Becker from 1959, which has since appeared on CD, and the role of Justice of the Peace Trelawney in Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson from the 1962. One of his best-known television roles is that of the English landowner Alistair Goodman , in the most famous six-part series of the Francis Durbridge series Das Halstuch , from 1962. In this street sweeper , Heinz Drache , Albert Lieven , Margot Trooger , Horst Tappert , Dieter Borsche , Hellmut Lange , Erica Beer and Eckart Dux . Four years later he was seen as Professor Sherkoff , a brain specialist, in the 4th episode (deserters) of the space patrol , with Dietmar Schönherr , Eva Pflug , Claus Holm , Wolfgang Völz , Friedrich G. During a vacation trip to Sylt in March 1968, he suddenly and unexpectedly died in the presence of his wife, the actress Wika Krautz and their daughter. In a previous marriage, Linder was married to his colleague Marianne Wischmann . He was buried in the Ohlsdorf cemetery in Hamburg , grid square PA 6 (on the eastern bank of the Prökelmoorteich ).
