Eduard Marks (born November 9, 1901 in Düsseldorf , † June 30, 1981 in Hamburg ) was a German actor , drama teacher and radio play speaker .

Life

The son of a goldsmith first worked as a piece calculator in a steel mill. In 1925 he got his first engagement as an actor. This was followed by stage positions at the Hamburger Schauspielhaus (1937–1945), at the Hamburger Kammerspiele (1945–1953), with Helmuth Gmelin at the Theater im Zimmer (1951–1953) and in Wiesbaden (1954–1955) before Gustaf Gründgens met him again in 1955 the Hamburger Schauspielhaus engaged.

In addition, Marks was a long time professor of acting training at what is now the Hamburg University of Music and Theater , which emerged in 1950 from a private drama school in Hamburg-Eimsbüttel. Marks founded this private drama school himself together with his wife Annemarie Marks-Rocke (1901-2004).

In addition, Marks was also known as a storyteller (Uncle Eduard) and from extensive radio play activities on radio ( NWDR and NDR ) and on records.

Marks, like his wife Annemarie later, was buried in the Hamburg cemetery in Ohlsdorf . The couple's grave is located in the area of ​​chapel 4 in grid square H10, grave no. 270.
