Werner Riepel (born May 18, 1922 in Hamburg ; † August 18, 2012 there ) was a German actor , singer ( bass ), radio play and voice actor .

Life

After finishing school, Werner Riepel took acting lessons from Helmuth Gmelin . Then he completed a vocal training. For many years he had engagements at various venues in Hamburg and Bonn as a bass buffo . From 1958 he was under contract at the Darmstadt State Theater, among others .

In 1965 Hans Mahler brought him to the Ohnsorg Theater in Hamburg. From then on, the theater became his professional home. Due to the regular television recordings of the NDR , he quickly became known among the German television audience and thus became a much-loved popular actor . In the first few years he mostly appeared in larger supporting roles. After Otto Lüthje's death , he took over his role. He was now mostly seen in the male lead, often as a partner of Heidi Kabel . He also appeared as a singer from time to time, such as in 1966 in The Queen of Honolulu .

Since the late 1940s, he has been seen in smaller film and television roles, including Falschmünzer am Werk (1951) with Paul Klinger , Des Teufels General (1955) with Curd Jürgens and The Last Night of the Titanic (1955) with Heinz Drache . As a voice actor he lent a. a. Harry Lewis in the US film Dangerous Passion his voice. He was also heard in various synchronized roles in the western series Bonanza . In several radio plays, especially under the director Fritz Schröder-Jahn , he appeared in larger and smaller supporting roles, such as in Die Feuerinsel or Die Heimkehr des Kapitäns Tizoni (1954) with Erwin Linder or in Father and Teacher (1968) with Walter Richter .

Werner Riepel was on the stage of the Ohnsorg Theater until 1990. He played his last role as master baker Heinrich Hintzpeter in the comedy Een Mann with the character of Wilfried Wroost . Then he withdrew into private life. Riepel was with Charlotte Riepel, geb. Weyermüller (1915–1992) married and lived in Hamburg.

The urn burial took place on September 14, 2012 at the main cemetery in Altona . The couple's grave is located in the so-called urn circle.
