Wilfried Wroost

Wilfried Wroost , actually Wilhelm Friedrich Wroost (born September 13, 1889 in Hamburg , † August 14, 1959 ibid) was a German storyteller and playwright . The author's plays became known primarily through performances at the Ohnsorg Theater .

Wroost wrote in Low German and drew subjects such as characters from the Low German milieu; for television broadcasts of plays such as Mien Mann, de fohrt to See , his work was translated into standard German.

In addition to plays, Wroost also wrote novels and short stories.

Honors

In 1950 the former Liliencronstraße in Hamburg-Wilstorf was renamed Wroostweg in his honor and in 1962 it was extended to the former Georg Droste- Straße . There is a Wilfried-Wroost-Weg in Buchholz in the Nordheide .

Private

Wilfried Wroost died on August 14, 1959 in his hometown of Hamburg and was buried in the Ohlsdorf cemetery there at grid square AD 5 (on a hill southwest of Chapel 8).
