Günther Siegmund

Günther Siegmund (born May 16, 1927 in Hamburg ; † May 20, 1981 in Malcesine ) was a Low German writer , actor and theater director . From 1970 to 1979 he was the director of the Ohnsorg Theater .

Life

At the age of nine, Siegmund, a pupil of the secondary school teacher and folk actor Otto Lüthje , played a dwarf king in the ensemble of the Ohnsorg Theater. At the age of 20 he began to write - inspired by the theater.

In 1961 he played alongside Hans Mahler , Heinz Lanker and Walter Scherau one of the leading roles in the television recording of the play In Luv und Lee die Liebe . In the 1960s he also directed several successful TV productions by the Hamburg Volkstheater , such as Grandpa is sold , The Queen of Honolulu , My husband who goes to sea or The furnished gentleman .

After the death of Hans Mahler in 1970 Siegmund was appointed director of the Ohnsorg Theater. Under him, the house experienced a modernization of the game board. Siegmund, who wrote for the theater himself, edited z. B. Mudder Mews and continued to direct during the time of his directorship. In 1979 Siegmund resigned prematurely from his contract as artistic director, which was to run until the end of the 1981/82 season. He died two years after leaving the Ohnsorg Theater while on vacation in Malcesine on Lake Garda .
