Mary Russell Mitford
Mary Russell Mitford (born December 16, 1787 in Alresford, City of Winchester , † January 10, 1855 in Swallowfield , Berkshire ) was a British writer and playwright .
Mitford is best known for her work Our Village. Sketches of Rural Character and Scenery , a collection of 100 short stories . The stories were published in the 1820s and 1830s and are about the people and life in the Berkshire village of Three Mile Cross , where Mary Russell Mitford lived.
