Masatoshi Nagase ( Japanese 永 瀬 正 敏 , Nagase Masatoshi ; born July 15, 1966 in Miyazaki ) is a Japanese actor and singer . He has appeared in over 80 films so far.

Life

While he was in middle school, he founded a music band. The director Shinji Sōmai first cast him in a film in 1983. In Shonben raidâ , he played one of three students who, together with the yakuza and the police, set out to find the stolen class bully. After graduating from high school, he went to Tokyo and began his professional acting career. In 1989 he played in Jim Jarmusch's award-winning film Mystery Train in the episode Far from Yokohoma alongside Youki Kudoh, a young Japanese tourist on the trail of Elvis Presley . The film Love Needs No Words , directed by Yōji Yamada, was a great success . Nagase has received several awards for the role of Tetsuo, who gets by with odd jobs in Tokyo and finds great love.

He married actress Kyôko Koizumi in 1996 and divorced in 2004.
