Masautso Mwale (born July 2, 1961 in Lusaka , † May 23, 2014 in Luanshya , Copperbelt ) was a Zambian football player and coach .
Life
Active football career
Mwale played during his playing career in midfield for the Zambian Premier League club Profund Warriors Lusaka .
Coaching career
After the end of his career, he began his coaching career in 2005 as an assistant coach at the Zambian first division club ZESCO United , before becoming interim coach for Zesco in autumn 2011 and leading the team to the 2011 runner-up. After his dismissal in the winter of 2011, he went as head coach to the then table fifteenth Konkola Mine Police and saved this from relegation to the second-rate division One - North. During this time he was voted Coach of the Month for January. Through his rescue, the board of the then table tenth Nkana FC, became aware of him, who took over this team in January 2013. He led Nkana, in 2013 for the first time in twelve years, to a championship again. In autumn he was voted Coach of the Year by the Zambian Football Association. From June 2013 he assisted national coach Hervé Renard as assistant coach of the Zambian national football team (Chipolopolo Boys) until his death, but continued to be the head coach of Nkana in addition to his assistant coaching activities for Renard. In February 2014 he was one of three nominated coaches for the title of coach of the year.

Mwale had an accident with his private car, a Toyota Harrier , on the way to the CAF Confederation Cup match between his team Nkana FC and the Ivorian club Sewe Sport . He came off the road with his car on the Kitwe-Ndola Dual Carriageway in Mpatamatu in the Maposa district and rolled over. After recovery, he was taken to Thompson Hospital in Luanshya, where he succumbed to his injuries.
