Masfut ( Arabic مصفوت, DMG Maṣfūt , also English Masfoot or French Masfout ) is next to Manama the larger of the two exclaves of the Emirate of Ajman , the smallest emirate of the United Arab Emirates . It is located 94 km southeast of Ajman itself, south of Ra's al-Khaimah and together with the eastern exclave Hatta of the Emirate of Dubai in an area that is enclosed in the east, south and west by Oman . Masfut is surrounded by the Hajar Mountains .
At the 2017 census, the city had a population of 8988 in an area of 86.59 km², which corresponds to a population density of 103.8 inhabitants per km².
Masfut is located in a poor area that is characterized by agriculture . The 2012 population consisted of 6,000 people, 90% of whom were Bedouin and the rest of them guest workers . In 2013, however, it was decided to develop Masfut into a tourist city by 2030 . A hospital, banks, office buildings, a slaughterhouse, markets, schools and industrial plants with light and heavy industry are now to be created in order to develop the city, and hotels and sights for the hoped-for tourists.
The tourist attraction in Masfut is Masfut Castle, which was built in the 19th century and served to ward off Omani bandits. In 1947 it was taken over by Emir Raschid III. renewed.
The Masfut CSC football club comes from Masfut and currently plays in the second division of the country, UAE Division One .
