Masmolène is a former French commune in the department of Gard . Today it belongs to the municipality of La Capelle-et-Masmolène .

geography

The two places Masmolène and La Capelle have almost grown together. They are only separated by a small wooded hill. Masmolène is the western of the two places. The terrain is wooded and fertile. The center of the newly formed community is in the neighboring town of La Capelle .

history

After the French Revolution , Masmolène initially formed an independent municipality. It initially belonged to the arrondissement of Uzès and the canton of Saint-Quentin. From 1801 it belonged to the canton of Uzès and the arrondissement of Nîmes . In 1814 it merged with the municipality of La Capelle to form the municipality of La Capelle-et-Masmolène, which still exists today.
