life and career

Sari Abboud moved to Montréal at the age of 10 and to Ottawa at the age of 13 , where he still lives today. He speaks and sings in English , French and Arabic . For his songs he picks up elements from the musical styles that have shaped him: soul and Lebanese music, as celebrated by his role model George Wassouf .

For the first single Smile for Me on his debut album Massari, he was supported by the former bad boy rapper Loon . In 2002 he had a radio hit with the song Spitfire in Ottawa. Three of his singles entered the Canadian Top 20, and was nominated for several MuchMusic Awards , an award from Canada's largest music channel. He was nominated in two categories at the Canadian Urban Music Awards (Best New Artist, R & B / Soul Recording of the Year). His debut album Massari has already been awarded a gold record in Canada . With his second single Be Easy , Massari made his international breakthrough. It was also released in Germany on March 10, 2006 and, in addition to being in the official charts, became a club hit. Another major success was the single Brand New Day (Habibi) , which reached the single charts in the entire German-speaking area in the summer of 2013.

In 2018 Massari released the album Tune In through Universal Music . The advance single Number One was released in 2017, recorded with the Canadian singer Tory Lanez and re-released in spring 2018 with the participation of the German rapper Kay One . The original version reached the top 20 of the Lebanese single charts, the partly German-language version with Kay One also made an entry in the German single charts. The album's lead single, also called Tune In , was created in collaboration with Dutch DJ and producer Afrojack and Jamaican dancehall singer Beenie Man . A remix was produced by the Swiss house producer DJ Antoine and his studio partner Mad Mark .

The single Ya Nour El Ein , also released in 2018, is a collaboration with the Lebanese singer Maya Diab and the successful American rapper French Montana . The cover of the 1996 hit by Amr Diab was particularly successful in the Arab market and reached the top of the Lebanese singles charts.
