Belly (born April 7, 1984 in Jenin ; real name is Ahmad Balshe , Arabic أحمد بلشي) is a Palestinian - Canadian rapper and songwriter .

Life

Ahmad Balshe first grew up in Jenin, Palestine . His family moved to Ottawa , Canada to escape the poverty and violence in the area, but failed. Belly, who was known as a drug dealer at the age of 13, developed an interest in hip-hop and built a reputation as an MC . He signed his first contract with CP Records. He released a few mix tapes and worked closely with well-known DJs such as DJ Kay Slay , DJ Ill Will and Big Mike . In 2007 his debut album The Revolution was released . The album, which deals with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict , was awarded a gold record in Canada . Ginuwine , Nina Sky , Kurupt and Mario Winans were featured as guests . For the album he received a Juno Award for best rap album.

2009 appeared Mixtape - Compilation Belly & Kurupt The Lost Tapes 2008 , which included a number of songs that he had worked with Kurupt.

His second album Sleepless Nights 1.5 followed in April 2012 . The first single, Hot Girl , had a feature with Snoop Dogg .

In 2015 he signed a contract with Jay-Z's Roc Nation . In the same year he worked as a songwriter for The Weeknd . On his album Beauty Behind the Madness he was involved in the songwriting of a total of six songs. He received an Oscar nomination for Earned It from the film Fifty Shades of Gray .

In May 2016 he released his third album Another Day In Paradise , which contains 12 tracks.
