Massimo Costantini

Massimo Costantini (born March 28, 1958 in Senigallia ) is an Italian table tennis player and trainer. From 1974 to 1995 he took part in eleven world championships and eleven European championships, as well as in the 1988 Olympic Games .

Career as an active person

Massimo Costantini played for the Tennistavolo Senigallia club. From 1976 to 1995 he was national Italian champion 23 times, eight times in singles. Massimo Costantini achieved his greatest international success at Mediterranean Championships. Here he won in 1975 in doubles and with the team and in 1983 in singles. In 1983 he reached the final in doubles, in singles he reached the semi-finals in 1975 and 1991.

From 1974 to 1995 he took part in eleven world championships and eleven European championships , but here he never came close to medal ranks. At the European Championship in 1994 he received a fairness award. In total, he was appointed to the national team 450 times.

In 1981 Massimo Costantini moved to the German Bundesliga for TTC Esslingen .

In 1988 he qualified for participation in the individual competition of the Olympic Games . Here he was eliminated in the group stage. Two wins against Marcos Núñez (Chile) and Garfield Jones (Jamaica) were matched by five losses against Seiji Ono (Japan), Ilija Lupulesku (USA), Andrei Masunov (USSR), Kim Wan (South Korea) and Liu Fuk Man (Hong Kong).

Trainer

In 2002 Massimo Costantini began working as a trainer. First, he coached the Italian men's national team. From 2009 he worked as a national coach in India.
