Mateus de Carvalho Cardoso Alves (born January 23, 2001 in São José do Rio Preto ) is a Brazilian tennis player .

Career

Mateus Alves regularly played every Junior Grand Slam event on the Junior Tour from the French Open 2018 and also made it to the semi-finals at the prestigious Orange Bowl . At the end of 2018, he was the highest in the junior ranking at 29th place. He is still eligible to play in 2019.

Also in 2018 he played his first professional tournament on the ITF Future Tour , where he has so far been able to reach a final in doubles. His only use outside of futures was in February 2019 at the tournament in Rio . At the side of Thiago Seyboth Wild he won - only started with a wildcard - both games in the qualification and was thus in his first main field of the ATP Tour . There they were defeated by the top players Marcelo Melo and Bruno Soares in the match tie-break . In the world rankings , he achieved a new record in doubles with 535th place.
