Matheus Biteco , real name Matheus Bitencourt da Silva (born June 28, 1995 in Porto Alegre , † November 28, 2016 in La Unión , Antioquia , Colombia ), was a Brazilian football player . He was most recently under contract with Chapecoense .

Career

Biteco played in Grêmio Porto Alegre's youth and made his professional debut on July 14, 2013 in a 2-1 win over Botafogo FR . In 2015 he moved to Balneário Camboriú for Barra FC , but was awarded directly to Grêmio again, for whom he was no longer used. From the beginning to the middle of 2016, Biteco completed rehabilitation and rehabilitation training at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim after an adductor injury . Biteco was then loaned to Chapecoense by Barra .

Biteco died in the crash of LaMia flight 2933 on November 28, 2016.

On December 2, 2016, the South American football association CONMEBOL posthumously declared the club the winner of the Copa Sudamericana 2016 .

His older brother Guilherme Biteco (* 1994) is also a soccer player.
