Mathias Prange

Mathias Prange (* 1957 ) is a German classical archaeologist .

Life

Mathias Prange studied classical archeology at the University of Kiel and was there in 1986 with Konrad Schauenburg with a thesis on The Niobid Painter and His Workshop. Investigation into a vase workshop early classical period doctorate . In the not uncritical-reviewed work he examined not only the works of the main master, the Niobid painter , but also eight other vase painters , the workshop are allocated: Altamura Painter , painter of the shaggy Silene , Blenheim painter , a painter from Bologna 279 , Painter of the Berlin Hydria , Geneva painter , Spreckels painter and the painter of London E 470 . For his work he was awarded the travel grant of the German Archaeological Institute for the period 1986/87 , with the help of which he was able to tour the Mediterranean region . Subsequently, the editing of the second volume of the Antikensammlung Kiel for the Corpus Vasorum Antiquorum Germany was assigned to him. Here, in addition to some addenda to the first Kiel volume with black and red-figure vases from Attica , he mainly worked on Cypriot , Mycenaean , geometrical , Corinthian , Eastern Greek , Italian, especially Etruscan and Lower Italian black-figure ceramics.

After that he was no longer active in archeology. In the meantime, Prange works in the PR industry for various publishers and magazines, including for the Pedagogical Posts Verlag with the magazine Hamburg macht Schule as well as for the publisher Das green business directory for Das green business directory .
