Mathieu Claude (born March 17, 1983 in Niort ) is a former French cyclist .

Career

As a U23 driver, Mathieu Claude won Paris – Tours in 2003, among others . In 2005 the 1.80 meter tall and 69 kilogram heavy cyclist became a professional with the French ProTeam Bouygues Télécom . In his first year, his best finish was sixth at the GP d'Isbergues . In 2006 he finished seventh at the Châteauroux Classic de l'Indre and ninth at Nokere-Koerse . At the Vuelta a España , he dared to escape alone on the sixth stage, but was caught up again before the finish.

After suffering a cruciate ligament rupture in 2012, he decided to retire at the end of the 2012 season. Since then he has been part of the Direct Énergie staff (as of 2016).
