Matias Loppi (born March 22, 1980 in Helsinki ) is a Finnish ice hockey player who has been under contract with SV Kaltern since September 2012 in the Italian A2 series .

Career

Matias Loppi began his career as an ice hockey player in his hometown in the youth of the HIFK Helsinki , for which he was active until 1996. He then moved to the junior division of local rivals Karhu-Kissat Helsinki , which he left after only one year. He then returned to the HIFK, for whose professional team he made his debut in the SM-liiga in the 1998/99 season . However, the attacker could not prevail against the capital city, so that he mainly played for their junior teams and was only six times on the ice in the highest Finnish ice hockey league until 2001. For the 2001/02 season , the left-shooter signed a contract with the first division club SaiPa Lappeenranta , for which he gave a template in ten games. However, he spent most of the season at Haukat Järvenpää in the second-class Mestis .

In the summer of 2002 Loppi received a contract with the Swedish second division club Piteå HC . He left after only one year to play for SV Kaltern in the Italian Serie A , where he also stayed for only one year. The center then returned to his Finnish homeland, where he scored 41 points in a total of 47 games for the second division side Kiekko-Vantaa . This made him one of the top scorers in the league. With that he drew the attention of the Pelicans Lahti from the SM-liiga, for whom he played the following three years. He spent the 2008/09 season at his home club HIFK Helsinki before he was committed to the Hamburg Freezers from the German Ice Hockey League for the following season .

In summer 2010 he returned to Finland and was signed by the Pelicans from Lahti .
