Matic Furjan (born May 25, 1998 ) is a Slovenian football player on the position of a striker . Since summer 2019 he has been under contract with ŠD Videm with games in the third highest Slovenian football league.

Career

Career start

Matic Furjan was born on May 25, 1998 and joined the junior division of NK Drava Ptuj, which was founded in 2004, in summer 2008 at the latest . Until the dissolution of the club of the same name founded in 1933 in 2011, this was exclusively responsible for youth football. In the 2012/13 season still a regularly used player in the club's U-15 team, he came to his first two appearances in the 2nd Slovenska Kadetska League in the same season . In this U-17 league, he then made eight appearances and three goals in the first half of the 2013/14 season, before moving to the offspring of NK Krka , who recently rose to the Slovenian top class, in the winter of 2013/14 . For this he completed eight championship games in the 1st Slovenska Kadetska Liga , the U-17 league of the Slovenian first division, in which he scored two goals. His sister Vanesa, born in 2001, also played football in Ptuj at that time ; as a junior player, she played at the women's football club ŽNK Ptuj .

Second division debut

The U-17 team of the club from Novo mesto then joined Furjan from the beginning of the following season 2014/15, before he joined the men's team of the second division NK Ankaran during the winter break of 2014/15 . In the first game of the spring, a 0-0 away draw against NK Dob on March 21, 2015, still unused on the bench, the then 16-year-old was a week later in his team's 1-0 victory over ND Dravinja from coach Vlado Badžim came on as a substitute for the later Austrian legionnaire Matic Hojnik from the 89th minute on . Subsequently, he came to regular short appearances as a substitute, before he was on the lawn for the first time from the start after a total of six second division games in the 24th championship round. By the end of the season he was used in almost all other league games - he only missed the season finale against NK Veržej - and made a total of 14 second division appearances in which he remained goalless. In the final standings, he finished fourth with the team and stayed with the team in the following 2015/16 season. In this, however, he was rarely considered by Badžim and only completed his first game of the season for the men in the eleventh round (mid-October). During the winter break he only had five championship appearances and at the same time switched back to his former training club NK Drava Ptuj.

Return to Drava Ptuj and first division appearances at NK Ankaran

From the spring of 2016 he was mainly part of the club's junior team and played nine games in the 2nd Slovenska Mladinska League by the end of the season , scoring three times. From the 22nd championship round, he was also regularly on the substitute bench for the men's team, but completed only a few minutes' short stint in the penultimate game of the season in a 6: 4 win over the already relegated NK Šenčur . In the final standings he ranked third with the men and was four points behind the second-placed NK Aluminij and nine points behind the champion NK Radomlje with his team . Furjan also started in the following season 2016/17 with the NK Drava Ptuj and alternated between the junior and men's teams. Nevertheless, he did not make it to regular strength in either of the two teams. At the end of the season he had a record of nine second division appearances and one goal, as well as six personal goalless games for the junior team in the 2nd SML . With only 31 points - the champion NK Triglav Kranj had almost twice as many with 61 points - Drava Ptuj finished the season in fifth place in the table.

In the summer break before the start of the 2017/18 season , the 19-year-old offensive player again joined the NK Ankaran. After a third place in the previous season, he was surprisingly promoted to the highest Slovenian football league, but could not hold up in this. After only one season in the Slovenska Nogometna Liga, the club went straight back to the second division; With six championship appearances - mostly short appearances lasting a few minutes - Furjan was only a rarely considered substitute. In the following season 2018/19 Furjan also belonged to NK Ankaran, which however broke up after this season. The 1.83 m tall right-footed player was not taken into account in a single competitive game this season and moved to the third Slovenian football league for ŠD Videm , who played there, after his club had dissolved . To date (as of April 26, 2020) Furjan has played eight championship games, in which he himself remained goalless.
