Matt Beynon Rees

Matt Beynon Rees (born 1967 in Newport , Wales ) is a Welsh journalist and writer .

Life

Rees studied English literature at the University of Oxford and journalism at the University of Maryland, College Park . He then lived in New York for five years before moving to Jerusalem in 1996 , where he initially wrote for The Scotsman and Newsweek . From 2000 to 2006 he headed the Jerusalem office of Time magazine , for which he continues to write.

In 2008 he published his first detective novel with the Palestinian teacher Omar Yussef. The Bethlehem Traitor won the New Blood Dagger Award .

Rees speaks u. a. Arabic and Hebrew and lives in Luxembourg.
