Matt Bondurant

Matt Bondurant (born 1971 in Alexandria , Virginia ) is an American writer and university professor .

Life

Matt Bondurant was born and raised in Alexandria, Virginia. He was a Kingsbury Fellow at Florida State University and graduated from James Madison University . He briefly taught English at George Mason University . He is currently Professor of Creative Writing and Literature at the University of Texas at Dallas .

Bondurant made his debut as a writer in 2005 with his novel The Third Translation . A year later, it appeared in German under the title The Egyptian Inscription . His second novel The Wettest County in the World , published in 2008, was made into a film by John Hillcoat with Tom Hardy and Shia LaBeouf in the lead roles under the title Lawless and had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival . The novel is based on a true story. Bondurants grandfather and his great-uncle operated during Prohibition in the United States an illicit still .
